Alma de Cattleya, Sauvignon Blanc, Sonoma County 2016
Winemaker Bibiana González Rave may have the most impressive story you've never heard of. Born and raised in Colombia, her passion for wanting to make world class wine took her to France. She has excelled in making wine at some of the very best chateaus in Côte-Rôtie, Alsace, Cognac and Bordeaux. When California beckoned her, she came running and has since made wine at La Crema, Peay Vineyards, Au Bon Climat, Qupé and Lynmar. She is married to Jeff Pisoni of Pisoni Vineyard family, arguably the most successful and sought after growers of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in all of California. And to cap it all off, Bibiana is now the winemaker at Pahlmeyer.
Cattleya is an orchid and the national flower of Colombia. Like great wine, it is challenging to grow. But when done right, the rewards are limitless. This wine is 100% Sauvignon Blanc selected from several, pristinely managed vineyards in Sonoma County. Cattleya is zippy and refreshing with mouthwatering aromas and flavors of tropical and citrus fruits. One sip feels like you just did the Nestea plunge. 14.1% alc.
