Au Sommet, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley 2012
When Heidi Barrett makes a wine, it's either very good or off-the-charts-dare-I-share-it-awesome! Since she put Screaming Eagle on the map, Heidi hasn't slowed down. She continues to find the perfect vineyard sites and coax every beautiful nuance from those properties into the wines she crafts. Au Sommet ("To the Top") is a blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot from the Atlas Peak AVA in Napa Valley. This wine is intense, no question, with concentrated fruit flavors of dark red cherries and plum. Notes of spice and leather are intertwined perfectly. And we love the irony of the out of body experience we had while the wine was going in! It also doesn't hurt that the wine recevied a 94 point rating from Antonio Galloni. 14.8% alc. Only 375 cases produced.
