Baker & Brain, Radian Vineyard, Pinot Noir, Sta. Rita Hills 2013
This stunning new Pinot Noir project out of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA is courtesy of Josh Baker and Matt Brain. Matt's day job is Head Enologist, lecturer and lead winemaker at Fresno State University which is in the top three schools for Viticulture in the country. Josh is the lead winemaker at Edna Valley Vineyard in San Luis Obispo. How much you wanna bet these guys know a thing or two about sourcing amazing fruit and making gorgeous wines? In only its second vintage, the wine has beautiful depth but is not overwhelming and was made with as little intervention possible so you taste the fruit first but not overly so. The acid is very balanced and helps make the finish long and satisfying. This wine is all about place and not process. It is simply gorgeous. Every drop is worth three drops of what you drank last night. 14.3% alc. Only 98 cases were produced.
