Couteau Wines, Kitchen Block, Red Wine, Napa Valley 2012
Let's face it. Anytime you have a dinner party or more than two friends over for the night, you all almost always end up in the kitchen (another reason why those remodels are so expensive), continuing to eat, drink and if you're like us, attack those dirty dishes so the next morning is less painful. Kitchen Block is a unique blend of Petit Sirah (65%) grown on the steep hills on the east side of Napa Valley and 30% Merlot from Yountville along with a few splashes of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. The wine is big, beautiful and balanced; like a very attractive, middle-weight Sumo wrestler with a low center of gravity. The wine has terrific, blackberry flavors and aromas with a refined finish. Kitchen Block was aged 28 months in French and American oak, 40% new. Ready? Of course, you are. 14.5% alc. Just 201 cases produced.
