Familiar Air, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley 2014
Winemaker Benoit Touquette is taking things up several notches with this project. A blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon from Calistoga/Saint Helena, 12% Merlot from Yountville and 5% Petit Verdot from Saint Helena. The wine was aged in 50% new French oak and gives off huge helpings of blueberries, blackberries and floral notes. The mouthfeel is soft and quite sexy and finishes mildly sweet with tannins that are firm but approachable. If you liked Tether and or Teeter Totter, you'll forget both once you’ve had a sip of this! We found this wine to be the best that Benoit has made to date and oozing with quality. All around, it will be a great wine to open for special occasions, give as a special gift or stash away for a while. Familiar Air will drink well now with a decant time of 1-2 hours and will cellar well through 2032. 14.1% alc. Only 224 cases produced.
