Paix Sur Terre, Either Side of the Hill, Red Wine, Paso Robles 2014
Created in 2010 by Ryan and Nicole Pease, Paix Sur Terre (Peace on Earth) produces mineral driven, single vineyard Mourvedre wines along with small lots of Grenache, Syrah and Mediterranean style whites. The fruit sources comes from three, incredibly well managed vineyards (I’ve walked all three) on the west side of Paso Robles; Glenrose, Alta Colina and Kiler Grove. Ryan and Nicole always pick their grapes while keeping freshness in mind to express a balance of mouthwatering, savory, and mineral qualities. The majority of the barrel aging is neutral oak so you taste the fruit and its sense of place and not the wood. And we think the label is as cool as the wine itself.
The name comes from the fact that the Syrah used for this wine is on one side of the vineyard and the Mourvedre is on the other side. The Glenrose Vineyard is planted in blocks throughout a hilly property and the full lyric is "The grass ain’t greener, the wine ain't sweeter, on either side of the hill" which was the inspiration for this bottling. A blend of 85% Syrah and 15% Mourvedre. 14.9% alc. Only 125 cases produced.
