Peirson Meyer, Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley 2014
One Spring evening in 2001, Alan Peirson, his wife Lesley, Robbie Meyer and his wife Shannon were enjoying a bottle of wine together when their discussion turned to the future. They had all met at the Peter Michael Winery Estate, where Robbie was the Assistant Winemaker, and Alan and Lesley were the Winery Estate Managers. In classic fashion they came up with the name and logo for their brand, sketching it out on a cocktail napkin. That evening, the Peirson Meyer adventure began. In the Fall of 2001 they produced their first vintage, 300 cases of Russian River Valley Chardonnay.
Peirson Meyer's 2013 Pinot Noir delivers layers of lush fruit that literally jump from your glass. Flavors and aromas of pomegranate, fresh cranberry and wild ripe berries all come together along with soft violet floral notes, sweet cinnamon spice, and a definitive fresh soil quality. The mouthfeel has a wonderful density and roundness, but with a framing structure that keeps it focused and age worthy. 14.4% alc. Only 300 cases produced.
