Saracina, Skid Row Vineyard, Malbec, Mendocino County 2014
When winemaker Alex MacGregor graduated from college with a degree in business, he made the first logical career step for a new college grad…tending bar. Fortunately for him, the bar was located in a Toronto restaurant with one of the most progressive wine programs in Canada. After a lethal bite from the wine bug, he found heaven in the form of a sommelier certificate. Alex then traveled the wine regions of France, Spain, New Zealand and Australia. At that point, making his own wine was the end game. After emigrating to the United States to study enology and viticulture in California, Alex found his first job as an enologist in the Dry Creek Valley and soon after, found Saracina.
This wine gives beautiful and plentiful notes of violets, blueberries, and a subtle mineral component. The palate is naturally concentrated with balanced acidity and soft tannins, making it a very quaffable beverage. Pair with a big burger, spicy chili or your favorite cut of steak on the grill. 14.5% alc. Only 281 cases produced.
