Straight Line, Zinfandel, Lodi 2014
If you're a Double Black Diamond skier who's always got their tips down, ready to shred, then there's a good chance you passed or got passed by winemaker Jon Grant at one time or another. When Jon's not making world class wine, he's on the slopes of Lake Tahoe, Park City, or anywhere that's got the freshest, deepest powder. Before setting out on his own path, Jon worked in the cellars of many of Napa Valley’s top wineries, including Turley Wine Cellars, PlumpJack Winery, Corison Wines and Robert Mondavi Winery. With a world of wine experience behind him, Jon started Straight Line and Couloir Wines to showcase his own artistic interpretation of exceptional vineyard sites through the limited production of single-varietal wines from top vineyards within California's best appellations.
This wine is 100% Zinfandel from the heralded Kirschenmann Vineyard in Lodi. The vineyard’s proximity to an oxbow in the Mokelumne River affords a more moderate, Mediterranean climate and relatively low temperatures, producing a wine with beautifully balanced flavors and acid. We loved this wine for the aromas of fresh raspberries, blueberries and blackberries followed by subtle hints of chocolate and spice. Without question, Straight Line Zinfandel makes for the perfect glass of wine while wrapping presents for your loved ones. 14.5% alc. Only 97 cases produced.
